First Response From Jack Taylor Following Heart Attack

A New Day

Seventy-Eight today. It’s unusual but I feel every year of it after a week in Emory Hospital, Atlanta. I am feeling good but physically depleted. The experience was horrific with heavy medications required to bring me back from the brink and keep me alive, also inducing a world of confusion and days when fantasy and reality vied for attention. Most of that time is and will likely remain a mystery with no desire to return. But PRAISE THE LORD, I AM BACK!

After my Doctor in Melbourne received the partial information from the team of Doctors in Atlanta he was able to confirm something that Friede and I had already determined: That the medications used and prescribed during the experience in the Atlanta Airport and days following comprised a life and death event which is to say it could have gone either way I suppose it is fitting to say, “A miss is as good as a mile!

A few days ago it was determined that there was little to no heart damage through the ordeal. The position for the future will rather certainly involve curtailing the kind of demands I have been accustomed to in past years and this will be tough. I believe the plans will enable the following:
     Working smarter instead of harder;
Being more than doing;
     Burning brighter without burning out;
     Releasing the Father’s legacy of sons and daughters who are discovering, declaring and demonstrating the Kingdom of God to the edge of eternity. These all will be my resolve.

Bottom line: I will cancel 30-50% of my schedule, accept only engagements that are Kingdom connected and deliberately arrange for days and weeks of rest, research, recreation and recharging.

The list of heroes during those days grows rapidly with Friede, Tim, David van Cronkhite, and Leif and Jennifer Hetland and others soaring around the top. The more than 500 responses to Tim’s reports and updates were incredibly encouraging, many asking what they might do for us. As God permits I will be answering these soon. I literally experienced a spike in energy from reading them. Thank you!

I don’t know all that happened to me in that place from which I just returned a few days ago but I do know that I love life, my wife, my family and you more than I did. I love God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, my sons and daughters and others more than I did before. I love the Kingdom more. I even love me more. For goodness’ sake, I nearly lost my own body and that is a frightening thought. That leaves getting around here and just showing up very difficult.

I do anticipate heaven but I do not find excitement about being in the next load out. I discovered 23 years ago during another near-death experience that I did not find joy in thinking about the world without me in it. I chose life then; I choose life now.

Gear up, gird up and grow up with me as we proceed into the next season of life.

Summer Sons Gathering 2011 Invitation from JRT - ETERNITY ALONE . . .

The above words have been throbbing in my head and heart since the last of three Sons Gathering at our Firecreek Mountain retreat near Asheville, North Carolina.

Why is it that as the sons begin to gather, most to meet each other for the first time, the introduction seems immediately to be more than a chance meeting with a strange proneness to ask, "What is happening to us here?”

Why does it happen that when we begin to hear one anothers' stories God comes in such extraordinary ways? Why is that we weep so easily when so few of us seldom weep at all?

Why does it seem in the whole Firecreek experience that many spiritual mysteries are made clear and life-changing from the start?

Why are the informal sessions, the "porch meetings", as well as the sumptuous meals so freighted with significance with no planned subjects suggested?

Why, as we come to the last night and day do we begin to see each other, all of us, in a different and joyous light, really eternally related!

Why does it seem natural for those who have part in these gatherings to be getting together later, spontaneously and supernaturally to actually "hang out" and work together in ministry?

What is there about these 60 acres that is so at once isolated but central, remote but dignified, informal but mysteriously loaded with an indescribable, unexplainable Presence?

What is the strange feeling that each of us senses, "This is a safe place for me to be me"? (We have sort of adopted the adage, "What happens at Firecreek, stays at Firecreek".

To these questions I answer, "ETERNITY ALONE will reveal the complete answers! That being so, Let's relax and enjoy the journey and the majesty and the mystery of it all! I will not answer these questions but I will make a few observations:

The above and many others similar things, though mysterious, are happening with increasing intensity in gathering after gathering. It seems that the next one begins with the momentum and spiritual intensity with which the prior one ended. I must confess that with an already-busy (actually packed!) schedule I hesitated to involve myself for more than a couple of days at a time and for more than two meetings per year. After the undeniable dynamics of the place and the drastic changes in all of us who attended, I was smitten with the conviction that we should have the whole time from Monday evening through Friday noon, and as many of these meetings through the year as possible. Our goal is to have every son in attendance at one of these meetings. That will take at least a year or more. We all have agreed that we have never gathered in such a setting nor been blessed to any greater depth than at Firecreek among the family of fathers and sons.

We have two dates for 2011 remaining, the first, August 22-26 and October 24-28. We max out at 24 so if you plan to attend the late summer event, let us know ASAP. Keep in mind also that for the purpose of continuity we encourage a few who have attended before to be there.

A WORD TO THE WOMEN: We are planning for you and you are guaranteed to be thrilled and pleased with concepts and ideas and will be welcomed to add yours…as if we needed to say that! Be looking for details for the inclusion of ladies at a Firecreek gathering before the end of 2011.

Church member, want to do something extraordinarily special for your Pastor? Make sure he attends the next Sons Gathering at Firecreek. He will never be the same and your church will reap the benefits far beyond the cost of the trip and for years to come. Send him if you have to, but get your Pastor to the next Sons Gathering. The Fruit of the Spirit, as You have never heard Them!

This past Thursday evening at the Word, Spirit, Power Conference held at the Encourager Church in Houston, Texas, Jack Taylor shared the most remarkable description of the Fruit of the Spirit that I have ever heard. It was a revelation of life-changing proportions. I had never heard the Fruit of the Spirit explained in this way. I had never heard him share this insight. It is fresh and powerful and is the very heart of the Kingdom message.

The subject of this message is not the type of thing that one would desire to lead a blog series, but the message is so impacting that we wanted to inform you that we had found it.

Jack Taylor preached this message in January of 1988 at the James Robison Bible Conference in Dallas, Texas. The topic is as relevant today as it is disgusting. You will find yourself laughing uncontrollably and near crying the same as Jack unfolds the meaning of the declaration of Paul in Philippians 3:8.
